S.O.S

It all begins with an idea.

S.O.S. is a project I put together myself for a documentary filmmaking class the latter half of my junior year.  The footage used was taken directly from my cinematographer’s reel that I had made over the course of my academic career.  I wrote the script myself from a diary excerpt I had written months prior.

This film was extremely precious to me, as there are things I’ve admitted  that I had never spoken aloud before.  Even so, I felt it was an important step for me to take as an artist.  I believe that by making this film and showing it to my peers and family, they better understood me an artist, as well as a woman with a disability.

“This intimate documentary features filmmaker Lucie Wade as she depicts through poetry the plights of being a disabled artist.”

This film was shot digitally with dimensions of 16:9, and the date of completion was April 2021.

This film was shown at the UM Film Festival 2022, as well as Atlanta Docufest 2022.

New Moon Dissolved

New Moon Dissolved

New Moon Dissolved was written and directed by myself.  It took about a year’s worth of editing and revising, as well as getting feedback from my peers and mentors, to create the final script. What started out as a three minute Cine Roman evolved into a fully fledged short film over the course of 3 semesters.  This project was used as my capstone when I graduated.

New Moon Dissolved was a new kind of project for me.  It was more artistic and experimental than anything I had done before.  It took a lot of forethought to make sure that we had the assets necessary to pull off such a difficult project.  This was the first project I had done with a full crew, including students as young as freshman.  I learned the importance of total trust when working on a collaborative piece, and it really opened my eyes to the social beauty of filmmaking.

“A young woman named Kathy has been dating Jacob for a few days. The two go on a couple of dates together to get to know one another. Eventually Jacob begins pressuring Kathy to sleep with him, though she does not feel she is ready. Eventually Kathy forgives him for prying, and gives him another chance. Though this may not go as well as she thought.”

This film was shot digitally with dimensions of 16:9, and the date of completion was May 2022.

This film has not been accepted into any festivals as of right now.

New Moon Dissolved was written and directed by myself with cinematography by Taliya Harmon. It was co-produced by myself and Taylor Middleton, and post-production was lead by Tony King.

The Sound of Cicadas

It all begins with an idea.

The Sound of Cicadas was a film that I never intended to come out as well as it did. I wrote this film as a form of catharsis in order to help myself work through some trauma that I had accrued during my childhood and teenage years. Over the course of two semesters I worked with my peers to review and edit the script to perfection. Then with the help of those peers I was able to bring this film to life.

“Siblings, Jackson and Macey, have their first heart to heart while Jackson is going through a divorce with his wife, Keegan. Macey only being in her freshman year of college, largely can not liken her own experiences to that of her brother. Jackson knows this but is looking for someone that he feels he can trust to confess his sins to. Macey accuses Jackson of horrible things, though he continually denies everything.”

This film was shot digitally with dimensions of 16:9, and the date of completion was November 2021.

This film has not been accepted into any festivals as of right now.

The Sound of Cicadas was written, directed, and edited by myself. Cinematography is by Rowen Ren, and it was co-produced by myself and Taylor Middleton.
